Dog Bed Unit
Every now and then I have the pleasure to come up with a solution to a problem and in this case it was to design a dog cage/bed that would blend in and not stand out in the room.
The clients that I made this for needed something that would allow their dogs to be safe at night but also create some counter space for them to use as it was an extension to the kitchen.
As you can see below this unit has a spaceous draw and plenty of room still for the dogs to sleep.
This unit was made out of white american oak with stainless steal bars. We also used an mdf base and covered it in a waterproof vinyl to make it easy to clean.
So the next problem that I faced was that the unit was too big the fit through a standard size door and also the oak made it very heavy so the only solution was to make it flat pack by using m8 hex bolts the same as your Argos or Ikea furniture. It takes less than 10 mins to put together.
As you look through you will see 2 satisfied customers, Bink and Trixie that were a bit hesitant at the start, but now have to be dragged out of bed in the mornings.
Phase 2 of Dog Bed Unit
These photos are of the opposite side of the room were we put the dog beds, but this time we linked in a 3 drawer unit and a breakfat bar. I sneaked in an extra dog bed, plus I made a gate to match the units to seperate the front room to the dinning room.
Mini Grandfather Clock
In these pictures there are two different clocks, the unfinished pictures were a prototype that was to sit on a side table. It then pushed me to put a design into it to give it the wow factor! I added some remote leds to light it up at night, and also made this one to hang on the wall. Take a look at the clock in action in the videos below.
Video OneVideo TwoBalance Bike
So with christmas approaching I needed to get my little nephew a present and as he was getting to the age ready to ride a bike i thought it would be cool to make him a solid oak balance bike. I found an old bike being thrown out, salvaged the wheels, and set about making his present. Here is the result . The one great thing with this one being oak it will stand the test of time and hopefully be past down to the next child.
Dog Pee Post
Since I’ve been making stuff I have been ask to make some random things but this project topped them all! I present to you the “Pee Post” , This project was for PP Raw Food Suppliers who asked me to make a post to stand in front of their shop to entice dogs to wee up the post before they enter the shop as they have lots of mishaps in the past. The idea is the dogs will smell the scent of the last dog and do his business before entering the shop. If you follow my work your know I’m not one for doing things simple, I like to make things that stand out and push myself to create something different. I set about a 150mm round post with the chainsaw and made this. Once on site I used artificial grass to frame out an area to contain the mess.
Design To Build
With the luxury of modern day technology we can design your garden on a computer to make changes and try different things before we start. Once you are happy we can bring your vision to life.
River Resin Board
So as resin is the newest thing to be used in the workshops I thought I best get in on the action and have a go myself! I made this river board to see how it all works and I think the finshed item speaks for itself.
When I was approched to redesign the garden it stared with a simple extension and new boards, but with a consultation to find out what they want to get out of their deck, we created something amazing still within budget .
From design to framing now we reach the final result, a deck worthy enough to be in any garden.
We have created different levels to give the deck some character, and by changing the direction of the boards we can create different areas but all on one deck.
Nobody said you can’t have some fun with your project and create a bridge over to your custom built BBQ area!
Custom Built Sheds
We can build sheds and summerhouses to any size and specification. You can have the option if you would like it built from flat pack, but still have burn on felt.
Multi Layer Deck & Infinity Mirror
For this deck we created three different decks. There is a main deck, then a step down onto the bbq deck, and finally a futher step down onto a private sun deck. We also fitted lights on the borders , created a shadow gap on the stairs to hide some led lights, and made a infinity mirror to sit inside the main deck. All the lights including the infinity mirror, are all on a sensor to turn on as you step onto the deck.
Bedroom Refit
This story touched my heart.
I recived a call from a lovely lady who goes on to tell me that she had a fitted bedroom installed but was not happy with the workmanship. Once I arrived I confirmed her suspicion that nothing was level and it was made out of shelf wood from Wickes with chips and poorly edged wood. To add insult to injury he had taken a lot of money as deposit from her only income of a pension, and left her with nowhere to hang clothes and sleeping on the couch for two months.
Unfortunately we had to take everything out and restart again, keeping the cost down to try and off set the loss she had by using custom pre built robes and doors due to the unusual sizes from a well respected company. I made a visit the next day to fit some rails in the existing robes so she could clear the room to get her bed in while we waiting for the new units to arrive.
I wanted to tell this story as its very important to get good recommendations and not be put off by the words. CUSTOM BUILT.
To conclude this story I am pleased to say she is back in her bedroom and sleeping in her own bed in only two days from the arrival of units, and all within her orignal budget. As you can see by the finished result the difference is truly noteable.
Wishing Well
This wishing well was designed by my lovley Wife for a present for her Mum for Mother’s Day. Once made I pushed some pics out on social media and got a big response. I’ve now made a couple more for my customers and look forward to making many more.
This TV unit was made to measure to match an existing unit. MDF was used to make the main unit and then a pine top added.
Toy Storage
This was a fun project for me. A very good friend approached me to build a storage box for her child’s building blocks . I wanted to build something that would hold all the building blocks but also help her with motor skills so I put the box on legs to encourage her to stand up. A little later I made a stool for her to use and personalised it with her name and a pattern on top. As you can see baby Abi loves it and has found it fun to take all the blocks out and them put them all back again.
Bar Top
You may recognise this garden. Where this bar top used to stand was a beautiful tree but unfortunately after returning from a holiday they found it was covered in a killer fungus so I came up with this bar top to use the space in the best way possible and still give a nod to the original tree that once stood there
Bin Sheds & Planters
I was approached by a builder to come up with a design to make some bin sheds and planters for a little housing estate.
I made this unit to match up with an existing set for their lounge , I then passed it on to our painter to colour match and paint to a professional finish.
Modular van racking
All this racking is modular so if you ever change your van then it will come out with ease to transfer it to your new van
